Many wives experience a form of depression after giving birth, and sometimes even two or three months before delivery. Their mood changes, but those around them often don’t realize it’s depression.

Postpartum depression is a common disorder affecting wives either after childbirth or a couple of months before delivery.

During this time, the family often doesn’t recognize these symptoms as depression. They might think the mother is just anxious about taking on responsibilities, so they try to encourage her with words or accuse her of being spoiled. But in reality, she is experiencing depressive symptoms and doesn’t know how to overcome them.

Depression causes her mood to be very sad. She feels guilt without any real reason, and a sense of hopelessness that life has no meaning. She feels life is difficult and burdensome. Often, the mother may even think about suicide to escape life, but then she remembers she has a child she is responsible for, which increases her sense of responsibility.

Because of her depression, her thinking becomes disturbed. She may have thoughts of harming the child and herself at the same time, believing this would end everyone’s suffering.

The husband’s support is extremely important during this period, especially since women prone to this type of depression often suffered from a lack of attention since childhood.

Support from the husband can help a lot, but if the husband is too busy or inattentive, it can make her feel neglected and worsen the symptoms.

It is very important that if we notice these symptoms, the mother should see a psychiatrist for proper treatment.

If left untreated, this condition can last anywhere from 3 months to 3 years.
