We often hear this phrase from our teenage children: “I am free to do whatever I want… I want to live freely.”
So, what does freedom really mean?

I am free

Many young people repeat this phrase “I am free,” and of course, it is their right. But the question is: free in what?

The phrase “I am free” is often heard from youth who want to break free from their parents’ authority. But they must know:

What are the limits of freedom?

And when is it not acceptable to be free?

And to be truly free, you must also be responsible.

So the phrase should be: I am free and responsible.

I chose to enter this college, so I must know that I will be required to fulfill duties in order to succeed, and I will face obstacles. I need to learn how to deal with and solve them so I can continue on my path.

But I am not free whenever I want, and when I get into trouble and say “I am a victim,” then you cannot say “I am free.”

As long as you choose to be free, you must bear the consequences of your choices.
If you succeed, then you have used your freedom for your benefit.
If you make a mistake or fail, know that you are on the wrong path, bear the consequences, and learn how to succeed.
