Psychotherapy Is Not Just Medication — Learn More About Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Sessions
Many people don’t really know what CBT sessions are or why they are important.
CBT is used in many cases, such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), addiction, modifying children’s and teens’ behavior, marital problems, and more.
So, what happens in CBT?
With medication, the patient’s mood may improve, but the problems in their life often remain unresolved.
This is where talk therapy sessions come in.
- We listen to the patient with anxiety or depression, explore the pressures they’ve faced in life, and help them learn how to deal with those pressures in a healthy way.
- We look at how they see themselves and work on building their self-confidence.
- We identify faulty thinking patterns and work on changing them.
- We teach the patient how to relax and enjoy life.
For patients with OCD, we do the same but also help them learn how to stop obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors and develop a more flexible personality.
Family problems, issues with children and teens, or marital conflicts:
We teach people how to handle life properly and communicate effectively.
We listen to the problem from one or both sides, depending on availability.
